How does a carbon credit work?

•Carbon credit: A trading unit with a monetary value that represents one ton of CO2 equivalent.

•Clean Development Mechanism: Based on Article 12 of the Kyoto Protocol. It allows for the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG) through cooperation between countries and companies.

•REDD+: National and transnational payment-for-results mechanisms to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation and incentivize sustainable forest management and the maintenance and enhancement of carbon stocks.
